Ryan Dungey and Ryan Villopoto Lead Star-Studded Field into Season-Opening Rockstar Energy Hangtown National

Hangtown AMA National MX Kicks Off 2011 Lucas Oil Motocross Championship This Saturday

After months of anticipation, the summer is finally upon us and in a few short days, the world's best riders will take to the track to kick off the 2011 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Defending 450 Class Champion, Ryan Dungey, leads the field into the Rockstar Energy Hangtown National to begin a summer of celebration for 40 years of American Motocross.

Dungey and his Rockstar/Makita Suzuki team enter 2011 after the most successful rookie campaign in premier class history. Alongside the champion, under the factory Suzuki tent, is the team's newest addition, last year's 450 Class championship runner-up Brett Metcalfe. The Australian rider was knocking on the door for his first career win several times last season. He will look for similar success with the best opportunity of his career as a member of the team that has won the last two premier-class titles.

RJ SAYS: Supercross, on four wheels

It was going to be a good idea. Key word being 'was'. It was going to be a good idea!

My idea was to show you what the truck racing series that I promote and race in is like. It's like Supercross, only on four wheels!

So, my plan was simple - I'd invite my good friend Lex out to the finale of the Traxxis TORC series in Las Vegas, we'd mount a camera on the hood of my race truck, and I'd show you just how rough the racing is. It would be me (a former 2 time AMA Supercross Champion) and Jeremy McGrath (best Supercross rider in history!) showing you supercross - on four wheels!

Here is the grand experiment - camera is mounted on my truck's hood. Ready to go. But not for long!
