Behind the scenes: Team USA for 2010 Motocross of Nations - together for the first time

I was back out at Pala Raceway for something very special. I had already been there for four days for the Finale of the 2010 AMA MX season and the Awards Banquet.

But, as I mentioned, this was something special - the first official get together of Team USA for the 2010 Motocross of Nations. Team Manager Roger De Coster, racers Ryan Dungey, Andrew Short, Trey Canard, and all the support staff needed for an effort like this.

I felt very privileged to be invited to such an event. I soon came to realize that the most unique and moving part of the day was seeing the look of real happiness, the feeling of true honor, and the comraderie for each person involved, as 'The Team' came together for the first time. It was contagious. They seem to be a real 'team' already, working together well, and have great things to say about each other. Again, it was contagious!

RJ Says: Moving to Pro 4 Off-Road Truck Racing in 2011

Last year I won the TORC Pro 2 Off-Road Truck racing championship. This year I'm moving to the Pro 4 class.

What's the difference between Pro 2 and Pro 4? Pro 2 is two wheel drive. Pro 4 is four wheel drive.

With Pro 4 you can drive more aggressively - you can get on the gas more, because you have much more traction with all four wheels.

Also in 2011, I'm with a new team - Menzies. Plus I have help from Dodge, and Red Bull.

In this video below, this is one of the first times I started testing for 2011. It's a track at Glen Helen Raceway! (Home of the US MX GP)

Jay Marmont wins Manjimup

Great weather, great racing were the order of the day at “The 2011 WesTrac Manjimup 15000 MX Spectacular” which was run at the Cosy Creek MX track just outside Manjimup on the Foundation Day long weekend. ?I love racing at this event,? Monster Energy Cup Supercross Motocross Race Report

It's the first ever Monster Energy Cup, Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. It's the race everyone's been talking about. Why? A few reasons - first - a million dollars to any rider that can win all the motos. Second reason - new race format - three motos! Three ten lap main events! Third - unique race track. Although very similar to a supercross race, promoter Feld Motor Sports hired two of the biggest names in Supercross and Motocross to help build the track, and to help make it part 'motocross'. Those two big names would be Ricky Carmichael, and Jeremy McGrath. Another reason - new rules! Or lack thereof. The teams and riders get to use two-way radios to communicate while the races are going on, ala NASCAR. Ryan Villopoto has won the 2011 Monster Energy Cup event in Las Vegas, and the 1 million dollar prize money that goes with it!

Supercross.com has published three preview articles since we've arrived here in Vegas for the Monster Energy Cup hybrid Motocross / Supercross.

1. Press Conference on Thursday. 2. Amanda blog and has video of Thursday's activities in Vegas. 3. Video with riders and others explaining how they would blow a milion bucks should they win the Monster Million Dollars tonight.

There is another component that makes this race special. It's Las Vegas. You only need to look back at last May's Supercross Season Finale where Ryan Villopoto clinched his first ever AMA Supercross Series Championship. And Kenny Roczen won his first ever AMA main event in the 250 West Lites class. And more.

All of today's action from Sam Boyd Stadium and this first ever Monster Energy Cup Motocross / Supercross will be below. Who's racing? How about 2011 AMA Supercross Series Champion Ryan Villopoto? (Ryan also won the 2011 AMA Motocross Championship, and was part of the winning USA team in the Motocross of Nations in France last month.) How about Ryan Dungey, also a AMA Supercross Series and MX Series Champion (2010), making his debut for the KTM Red Bull team. West Supercross Champs Broc Tickle and Jake Weimer, one of the youngest riders on the racing circuit today, Kevin Windham. Justin Brayton is making his American Honda Muscle Milk team debut. Two time world Motocross Champion in the MX2 class Marvin Musquin, racing on the 350 KTM. And there are plenty more riders ...

2nd Annual DC Moto TF Ride Day and Invitational Poker Tournament

Supercross 2011 is right around the corner! So much is going on, both publicly, but also behind the scenes. One public and noteworthy item - DC Shoes has a new three year contract with Monster Energy Supercross!

Adam Cianciarulo

I was invited to the 2nd Annual DC Moto TF Ride Day and Invitational Poker Tournament at Pala Raceway. It was a full day's 'work' for the DC Athletes; group photos, action shots, interviews, and lots of MX riding at Pala. And there was good game of Poker to raise money for Road 2 Recovery. The list of Athletes sponsored by the DC Shoes brand is a very impressive group making this Supercross assignment unique fun for me!
